I took my car in for brake pads and rotors Feb 2017 to Car X in Finneytown Ohio and found out that the parts were never replaced but I was charged. My brakes started squealing in June and I went back to car x and they said it was nothing but the district manager Greg Miller was there and he said I needed to replace a tie rod, and I ended up giving them more money. My car continued to get worse, I got a second opinion and found out that my brakes and rotors had never been replaced. The dm and the store manager refuse to do anything but I am taking legal action. Ladies please beware.

Dishonesty relative to 'needed repairs'

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Took my car in for inspection. Scott (mechanic) showed me a pic of 'leaking calipers' over pads, and said I needed to replace pads or go for full rotor replacement. This was either $500 or $1000. I had doubts the photo shown was of my car, and I actually asked the Manager Tim for it later, and he never sent it though he promised. Bottom line: a mechanic friend confirmed there was NO LEAKING, and he kindly replaced the pads for $80 in parts, no charge for labor since he was so appalled of the horrible stories of mechanics cheating people, especially women. When I went back to complain, Tim showed me some 'caking' on the inside of one wheel to justify their claim that there must have been leaking (when? 10 yrs ago?), to justify their attempt to make a nice sale for something unneeded. They just lost another customer. (This was CarX in Kirkwood, MO).

Took my car to carx for what I thought was an altenator problem.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was charged 249.00 for a battery that I did not need, the old one was 1 year old and I could have exchanged it. This charge was also for emissions and safety inspection. Took the car home and it had the same problem, light dimming, check battery charging service light on and battery light illuminating. I took the car back. They then said it was the positive battery cable that had to be replaced, suggested from the manager. That did not work, but cost 551.00. Then finally they replaced the altenator costing an additional 691.00 which was the problem in the first place. There was another emission problem so they said. total $1468.85. NOT HAPPY

I have a complaint about the CarX in Erlanger on Dixie Hwy. I took my car in for a tilt steering problem.

By today's standards, it is an old car, 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't have value. The repair seemed to go well. The price was crazy at $876 but at least they took my coupon which left the total at $820.

When I arrived to pick it up, everything again seemed okay. I got in to drive, started it and headed out, I noticed there were no lights where the odometer readout was located. This was not acceptable since it had a lit odometer when it was brought in to the shop. I took it directly back to the shop and was assured it would be fixed after the Thanksgiving Holiday if I brought it in on Friday or Saturday.

I brought it back on Friday. After they checked on it, I was told it could be fixed for an additional $200. This was unacceptable. The odometer wasn't broke when I brought it to Erlanger CarX.

The service manager said he would check into the problem, called back and claimed it was fixed. When I went back to get it on Saturday, I noticed the crap repair, one lightbulb in green stuck in behind one light on the odometer, 7. It should have read 180753. This was unacceptable but I was tired of fighting.

My sister who was with me went back inside to request this to be fixed. I simply was done at this point. Not only did they crack the dash in two places but they ruined a perfectly good odometer. The service guy James told me the odometer was broken when I brought it in, which was a lie.

I actually have pictures of the odometer working. James, likes to bully female customers. They still claim they will fix the problem, but I am sure it will be *** work.

I am so frustrated that I trusted this business with my property. I will NEVER go there again.

The problem you had initially is not related to the battery performance.

What it does show is a failure of the charging and generating system which will eventually drain the battery but not vice versa.

The battery no longer provides any service once the vehicle is started and these systems take over the electrical load.

I'm sorry you got taken for a ride, but I'm afraid you don't know much about cars.

Might as well tell you : it's spelled "alternator" not "altenator".

I'm afraid they saw you coming. I've never in my 50 years of driving and repairing dozens of cars even heard rumors of a $551.00 battery cable. Find a consumer advocate and have him/her look this over,.

I don't know much about cars but it was the altenator, as for the typo, people make mistakes Mr perfect. through past experience I suggested the altenator, but was told they tested it three times and it was good

Horrible Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This is the worse place ever! I've been a customer with CarX for several years. I paid close to $800.00 for some tires that the mechanic failed to mentioned when I first arrived. I lost a day's pay because the tires went flat (they were. brand new). I took my car back and paid additional 120.00. The next day my tires were flat again. I took my car up to CarX and they said I had to replace a tire sensor. They were mean and unfriendly. I'm a senior and widow. These guys took advantage of me and now I'm out of $759.00 and I lost $210.00 for not coming to work. I'm prepared to televise this horrible service from CarX that I've received. I didn't get any BLACK FRIDAY SPECIALS. I'm calling corporate today and try to get my money back. I'm reporting this particular CarX to the BBB and have them investigated for fraudulent activities and how they preyed upon this senior citizen. Mary D. Porter 513.541.4631 mdporter@***.net

GREED AND OVER PRICING PARTS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I AM TIRED OF THESE SHOPS CHEATING THE PUBLIC. I THINK ALL COMPANIES SHOULD MAKE A FAIR PROFIT, BUT THESE SHOPS ARE GETTING WAY OUT OF LINE ON THEIR PROFIT. THEY RUN A AD FOR BRAKE WORK INSTALLED PADS FOR $79.99 OR $89.99 TO GET YOU INTO THE SHOP. THEN THEY STICK IT TO THE CUSTOMER BY MARKING UP THE ROTORS THAT YOU CAN BUY FOR $22.99 TO $48.00 TO $150.00 TO $200.00 JUST FOR THE PARTS! IT IS TIME WE THE CUSTOMERS STOP TOLERATING THIS EXCESSIVE GREED AND UNFAIR PRICING. THEY TAKE A $79.99 PRICED REPAIR, ADD ROTORS TO IT AND CHARGE $260.00 TO $350.00!!!! WE THE CUSTOMERS MUST STOP THIS BY REFUSING TO PAY THESE INFLATED PRICES AND TAKE THE TIME TO FIND SHOPS THAT PRICE THIS WORK FAIRLY. CAR X MAKES $30.00 TO $60.00 PER HOUR WITH THE PRICE OF THEIR LABOR. SO WHY DO THEY NEED TO OVER PRICE THE COST OF PARTS THAT ALL THEY DO IS LOOK UP AND CALL THE PART STORE FOR? THIS IS ONE OF THE MAJOR THINGS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY G R E E D IN CONTROL RATHER THAN FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES.

Sliced tire

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I took my car to get an oil change, and it took them over 1 1/2 to finish the oil change. After getting done with the oil I was told everything was fine. Breaks were at 25% and that my tires were good and road ready. I was also told I had an oil leak but they couldn’t tell were from, my boyfriend insisted and checked on the leak. After we decided we were not going to pay for them to fix it they came back with my tire with 5 fresh slits in it. Even slices on the inside of the tire. Horrible I want a refund!!

Scammers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The Castleton Car X, Indianapolis, IN location is a complete rip off... my 21 year old daughter went to have an oil change and replacement of a coolant tank. The manager quoted her the price of 360.00 after calling my husband to give the okay to pay, the price changed. After he realized a man was on the line he all of a sudden found a 160.00 coupon. Of course you can no longer be trusted so we do not want you to do the work. What really upsets me is the Manager and Asst Manager allowed her to pull off from the facility with no coolant tank/coolant which will automatically cause the car to overheat thence you would need a new engine. I quickly got her back on the line and expressed how important it was for her to pull over and have the car towed to another location. The car was towed to the CAR X on East Washington. (Manager Paul at the East Washington location very helpful) The work was completed and the total price was 269.00. I then called the Area Manager Joe and asked what was he going to do to Right the Wrong that was done at the Castleton location and he explained no one asked him to do anything. My response was why do we have to ask you to Right a Wrong you know your manager did. I expected him to take something off her bill considering that his company almost blew the entire engine. NOTHING IS WHAT HE DID FOR HER... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. His excuse for not crediting her even 50.00 was that the East side location did extra work on her car the first location did not see (supposedly for free) Very frustrating. Take some friendly advice and take your car somewhere else!

Charging issues 1990 chevy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Today i had my 1990 cavalier 2.2 up at carx on merle hay road in des moines iowa for a charging issues. They had a tech look at it and said the alternator was the problem. It was ok to replace it but im just going what they said. So they fixed it but it was doing the same thing. So mainly they replaced it and told me that the problem was corrected. Took back shortly after i picked it up and told me that possibly the cluster was the problem. Had a friend stop by to look at it and their was a wire coming off the alternator that i forgot to hook back up when it replaced the starter. My friend hooked the wire back up and start to charge again. He even showed me that the wire was just hanging there. They never did a charging test to see if the alterator needed to be replaced... Never checked nothing out or anything. Thought when you take a car into a garage they check into the problem deeply before replacement of any parts. Calling bbb to investigate into the problem. Then they cant correct the issue gatting lawyer to fix the issue.

I was there for appointment. His friend or girlfriend or what she was come in. He came around the counter hug her. Got her car in before mine which she didnt have appointment. I asked the dark hair young guy. As the manager Tony i believe sitting there with her talking about going out friday and sat to go see the band swan. And telling her about the house he going to build. And so on. I aaked where is Steve. Bc i always got good service from him! Tomy told me he was fired. Really i think you all fired the wrong one. At least Steve cared about his customers and went out of his way to help. Not sit down with his what ever and rubbing her leg or back. He a married man!! You always saw steve bouncing around the shop answering phones. Everytime i went into carx you never saw tony unless he was sitting at the computer playing on fb or texting people. I think my business will go else where now. 2 hour oil change is for the birds!! Yes i do have video of all this
