Verified Reviewer |Warn Others About Car-X Faulty Repairs

We noticed the brakes on our 2013 Genesis sedan were not optimal so we took the brakes into the Car-X shop in Arnold, MO for an inspection. They recommended we get our brake pads replaced and we agreed.
After Car-X replaced all the brakes ($760.00) they suggested we replace the brake fluid (S100). We agreed to them replacing the brake fluid. When we got the car back from Car-X, the brake pedal would travel varied distances before stopping and the brake pedal would go to the floor at a stop light.
We returned the car to Car-X in Arnold, MO and they determined that there was air in the brake lines. They bleed the brakes and advised the brakes were fixed.
Car-X ended up doing this 4 times. Car-X then recommended we replace the master brake cylinder. They are the experts, we agreed ($700). Car-X replaced the master brake cylinder 4 times.
The last time the brake pedal actually worked normally.
A few days later, while driving the vehicle down a highway all the brakes locked up on the car without warning. Drove the car a few blocks to get off the road and found heavy smoke coming from the brakes or what was left of them.
On 12/02/23 we had the vehicle towed (flatbed tow) to the dealership where they found a defective master brake cylinder and replace it with an OEM part. We have driven the vehicle a few times since the dealership repaired the vehicle but are concerned about getting to far from home. The brakes are now probably in worse shape from Car-Xs attempts to work on the master brake cylinder, then before they recommended I get new brakes.
We attempted to work with Car-X and also the Better Business Bureau to resolve our claim of damages but Car-X would only offer to pay for my towing.
Car-X stated I should have brought the car back to Car-X for them to repair it.
No one in their right mind would take that death trap back to Car-X for a fifth non-working master brake cylinder replacement.
Never trust your vehicle and the safety of your loved ones who drive in them to CAR-X in Arnold, MO. They do not provide safe repairs and the do not take responsivity for their faulty repairs resulting in a business that does not deserve your patronage.

Business committed to repair my vehicle back to correct operating condition.
Nature of dispute: Car-x made a bad diagnostic of what was needed to actually fix the problem.
Business resolution: Took the car back immediately for correction and the manager wanted me to pay for additional parts and repairs to correct the same problem that was supposed to be corrected with the first repair. I gave an opportunity to correct the issue.
Solution: Took my car to the dealership, and they corrected the problem the very diagnosis.
Customer Service: Lee Hubbard is the manager, and he is the one I was directly specking to throughout this entire process, Not only did re misdiagnosis the issue, but he also included a service agreement that he told me can with the repair but was actually an additional charge for the agreement and I should have had an option to accept or decline this additional fee.
This place is not to be trusted.
I will be taking this complaint all the way to the attorney general office if my refund is not received. I hope this will help someone else not to be taken advantage of by this company.

I went to your Old Halls ferry and Lindbergh store for a front end alignment for a 2002 Hilander, dropped it off. Amber the store Manager called me and told me could not do without buying 2 tires for the back of my car quote unquote there are steel threads showing, which is impossible I had just came from my mechanic and have pictures of everything he checked unfortunately he does not do Alignments.
Amber then tried to sell me the most expensive tires in the shop, I told her I did not want or care about the 75,000 mile tires, I just wanted the cheapest so the Alignment, could be done.
She then proceeded to tell me that I needed my struts replaced and again I have pictures showing that I do not. Then after work I went to get my car to the tune of 378.73, for tires per Amber she gave me 20.00 off and Charley her tech inspector did not charge for the Alignment, the tires they showed me were not the tires off my car again I have pictures, All they keep trying to do was sell me more stuff Stuts, I really want my money back, Charley and Amber both said Alignment could not be done unless i bought the tires

Amber manager Charley tech both are liars, told me that i had to buy 2 new tires before they could do alignment, did nothing but try to sell me struts, told me my tires had stell belts showing LIE and when I ask to see my tires they took off my car Charley brought out 2 tires that were not mine. Did I mention that my car person already examined the car and took pictures which I have.
Still continued to sell me struts even though I showed pictures of my struts not needing replaced.
And also continue to tell that the tires they brought out were mine but again I have pictures showing NO they are not. I want my money back and the Alignment was not even done.

We went in on 8/3/23 at 9 am and request to get our car fix with abs issues and while they,re at it asked them to change the headlight for us well it took two weeks for them to even work on the car just to not fix our issue we had to go back 4 time 2 of them was talking to them and today 08/04/23 claimed they found the problem rear left speed sensor wheel we ran codes on another device the same code popped up as left rear speed sensor fault and a can bus fault which they claimed they fixed the wheel speed sensor nope. Also with the head light it still didn't work they wanted to claim that it was a faulty wire we ended up getting time to change it and the headlight works and is still working still we went to the carx in granite city ILL. 62040
